Just trying out the newest firefox plugin for LJ. It amazes me all the new stuff I find once in awhile. Once I buy the Macbook I am gonna have to do this all over again I bet. Suck.

I have been in Southern California for a couple of weeks now. I gotta say I actually like it here. It's almost like being home in Florida, but the weather is nicer. No humidity is a beautiful thing. Other than that not much news to tell. I'll be headed back to Florida next Friday, the 21st, and I can't wait. I am really missing home right now I guess.

In other news, that's probably not so new, I am still single. I don't know just how available I have made myself though. For me it's got to be all about having a truly fantastic friendship and building from there. It's about being smacked up side the head by fate and not being able to ignore it.
Know something that I really miss? Having someone that I can lay in the dark with and just share secrets or just talk to with total acceptance and understanding. Sometimes we can just lay there in the dark and breathe...no conversation other than the occasional caress in the darkness...my hand finding hers and that simple thing speaking volumes without ever uttering a word. One of these days I just might find that again...

The first business day of 2007 finds me in Douglas, Georgia. If you look on your maps kiddies and see the spot in Geaorgia that says "Middle of Fucking Nowhere", just underneath that it says Douglas. If catatonics went on vacation this is where they would come. Very exciting stuff here in Douglas. Home of 109 churches and 32 banks, all in a town a fraction the size of Plant City. (that's very small for those of you playing the home version of this game)

People say the damndest things in airports

Over heard this morning at Tampa International Airport while sitting at the gate waiting to board a plane:

"I guess we'll have to burn a cross in their front yard or something to show them that rednecks still run that neighborhood."

People have no kind of filter anymore. Perhbaps they assume that the rest of us just tune them out when we sit down in public. A cell phone does not automatically give you auditory immunity you dick! The funny thing is that I don't even think that the conversation was a racial one. Sounded more like class warfare/envy than anything else. Once in awhile people still manage to amaze me. It amazes me how wonderful my girlfriend can be to me, and it is equally amazing how much of a retarded asshole someone can be without even blinking an eye. Calgon, take me away!

The diceman cometh

After a fantastic seafood dinner here in New Westminster, BC last night we went to the Boulevard Casino. I decided to stop trying slot machines last night and my friend here taught me how to play Craps. Needless to say, I wish I had never learned. LOL I think I have found something new to do when we go to the casino. I wonder if the Hard Rock has a Craps table? I had a blast and stayed at the craps table for atleast an hour or better and walked away $31 up which is good. It beats the hell out of watching your money disappear into thin air in a slot machine every time you press a button. It felt great holding a big fat stack of real casino chips and throwing dice with the big boys! We had a blast. I think we'll go back before I leave for the states next week for sure.

Just thought I would post a few pics from up here in the wintery wonderland that is Minnesota. i am actually loving it here. Nice place and who'd have thought that snow could be so much fun. Well, except to drive in that is. Enjoy!

here's me in the parking lot at the hotel earlier tonight. We got around 3 inches of snow today.

this is the Elk Farm I pass every morning on the way to the site I am currently working on. They have hundreds of them out in wooded pastures...just like cows down home.

And there is so much wildlife up here. Here's a Lynx.

Well I made it to the great white north all in one piece. It's 25 degrees outside and there is snow on the ground. Will probably snow tomorrow sometime they say. Minnesota is a beautiful place. Very secluded and quiet, just the way I like it. I ended up not packing any of my camera gear this trip. Not enough space in my carry-on. I will have to figure it out before next week's trip, or buy a smaller digital camera? Oooooooh that sounds good too.

The trip up sucked. Both my flights were delayed, one of them by about 6 hours. Yeah I said 6 hours. You heard me right. Northwest airlines bites. That is all I have to say about that.

This is a long overdue update...

The last year for me was a dodgy one at best. Fortunately things look like they are getting better and better as I go forward into 2006. Don't get me wrong, there were some really great times in '05 but for the most part it just blew personally. Thank goodness for great friends is all I have to say about that.

Tomorrow I start a new job. I left the old one of my own accord. Just like 2005, the people I was working for sucked. I was the GM of a custom hardware/contractor supply company based out of Miami. My bosses had no clue about their own company or the value of good employees. So I am on to bigger and better things. As of tomorrow morning at 8:30am I am the new IT Business Analyst for a HUGE company that I used to work for. I got a call from the CIO of this corporation at a very opportune moment after having an earful from the retarded company president I was working for. The CIO was kinda feeling me out on my interest in a position that my name was mentioned for. Mind you, I left this company over a year ago. It's nice to know that you are remembered like that. :o) Three weeks later and they have made me an offer that I would be an idiot to refuse.

My new position wil entail lots of travel throughout the US and Canada. Basically this company is converting all of their 59 facilities over to a software package that I am familiar with as a manager. I will be travelling to each site as they are converted and working with their management team analyzing their current management processes and then showing them how to use the new system to improve the way they work. The project will last me the next two years atleast. It'll be a challenge, but one that is well worth the end reward. I'll pretty much be able to go anywhere in the company when the conversion is done if I do a great job of it. No worries.

Most don't know it, but my divorce from Melissa was finalized after waiting about a year or so. I won't say bad things. People change and move on. We were going in different directions I guess. C'est la vie. I miss the intimacy of having someone to be close to. I am not talking about sex, which is great and all, but the little quiet moments...inside jokes...hearing someone breathe in the darkness lying next to you at night...the twinkle in their eye when they laugh at your stupid jokes...holding hands...kissing...warm breath on your neck...damn.

So once again every other aspect in my life is just peachy except for the whole significant other thing. It'll work itself out I know. I am just trying to focus on the rest of my life now and not trying to look so hard.
In other news I have been going back to the gym for a couple of months now and I am liking the results, alot. My old workout partner informed me that I needed to get back to it in his oh so subtle way...LOL So I am back hitting the iron once again. I do about 30-45 mins of cardio (treadmill or bike) and then 45min-1 hour of weights. My clothes were already starting to loosen up before I started. Now it's even better and I am seeing and feeling the results. It's cool. I realize that thanks to my ancestors being the sturdy Germanic Celts and Scottish Highlanders that they were will never allow me to be a small guy, but I am cool with that. Eat better, live better, live longer. I figure if I want to have a few little ones running around one of these days I better take better care of myself to see them grow up happy.

I have been looking at the women I have been interested in lately and have come to one undeniable conclusion. I am smarter than to continue to desire people who do not deserve what I have to offer. I should know better of myself and learn damnit.
