Tucson: A sunny place for shady people
I see that it's been a little over a year since I posted here as proof of life. Here we go again. I'm not dead yet. I just live in the desert...

For those who don't know, which is mostly all of you, I gave up the big city life in DC and moved to the desert southwest of Tucson, Arizona. Life here is good, very good.

Scratch that. Tucson is terrible. It's all cacti, scorpions, tarantulas, and rattlesnakes. You should probably stay where you are...

I'm not dead yet...
Is this thing still on? I need a private place to record thoughts I think.

it's been awhile...
Seems like it's been forever since I posted here. I don't even really know why. Perhaps the immediate gratification of Facebook has spoiled me. I dunno. Nonetheless here I am.
Noel and I split up back in June. It's particularly painful considering we were supposed to be married in October...Life has been a little hollow for me since and I really don't know what to do, nor do I have a plan...
and the beat goes on...

Just trying out the newest firefox plugin for LJ. It amazes me all the new stuff I find once in awhile. Once I buy the Macbook I am gonna have to do this all over again I bet. Suck.

Update from SoCal
I have been in Southern California for a couple of weeks now. I gotta say I actually like it here. It's almost like being home in Florida, but the weather is nicer. No humidity is a beautiful thing. Other than that not much news to tell. I'll be headed back to Florida next Friday, the 21st, and I can't wait. I am really missing home right now I guess.

In other news, that's probably not so new, I am still single. I don't know just how available I have made myself though. For me it's got to be all about having a truly fantastic friendship and building from there. It's about being smacked up side the head by fate and not being able to ignore it.
Know something that I really miss? Having someone that I can lay in the dark with and just share secrets or just talk to with total acceptance and understanding. Sometimes we can just lay there in the dark and breathe...no conversation other than the occasional caress in the darkness...my hand finding hers and that simple thing speaking volumes without ever uttering a word. One of these days I just might find that again...

Anywho, here are a few pics from my current SoCal journey. More to come.

I hope each and every one of you has a very happy valentine's day. You will have to pardon me if I go right ahead and don't. There will come a day when I can perhaps join in your greeting card and chocolate candy-induced rapture. This is just not that day. You will not find me raining on your parade and whining about heartache. I believe in love as much today as I ever have. Love is out there and I have known it. Love is the warm blanket that I have wrapped myelf in on so many days of my life. I will bring this to a close before it turns into something else and end it with some thoughts on love that always strike a chord with me. I do not find solace in these words. I am merely fanning a glowing ember, dim and slow burning, trying to remember the fire of love. Happy Valentine's Day to you all...

Love is like a friendship caught on fire.
In the beginning a flame, very pretty,
Often hot and fierce,
But still only light and flickering.
As love grows older,
Our hearts mature
And our love becomes as coals,
Deep-burning and unquenchable.
-Bruce Lee

When you depart from me sorrow abides, and happiness takes his
leave. -W.S.

They do not love that do not show their love.
The course of true love never did run smooth.
Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love. -W.S.

Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love. -William Shakespeare (W.S.)

...Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or Bends with the remover to remove.
O, no! It is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken.
It is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. -W.S.

Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs,
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes,
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall and a preserving sweet. -W.S.

Other men said they have seen angels,
But I have seen thee
And thou art enough. ~ G. Moore

I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion -
I have shudder'd at it.
I shudder no more.
I could be martyr'd for my religion
Love is my religion
And I could die for that.
I could die for you. ~John Keats

To love a person is to learn the song
That is in their heart,
And to sing it to them
When they have forgotten. ~Anonymous

A part of you has grown in me.
And so you see, it's you and me
Together forever and never apart,
Maybe in distance, but never in heart. ~Anonymous

Spiritually speaking nothing cleanses the soul more then disproportionate retribution. Vengeance is the true heart of our religions. Learn infinite patience, my son, and after a time has passed and your enemies have forgotten you, then slowly and systematically destroy those who have done you harm. This is the path to inner peace. This is the path to be like our gods. Forgiveness is not divine, tit for tat destruction is.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.
